All men dream: but not equally.
Those who Dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds
Wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the
Dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
May act their dream with open eyes, to make it Possible.
This I did.

I would hesitate to call him the "greatest" guitarist ever.  Even he admitted that his music was very derivative of others, especially Hendrix.  But from a pure technical standpoint, I think he was the best who ever lived.  And as a live performer, no one even comes close.

Have you heard of Gary Clark Jr.?  He's an up and coming blues/rocker from Austin.  For that reason, he's often compared to SRV.  And while he's not THAT good, he's still probably the best young guitarist going right now.

Hendrix and SRV have been in my top 3, usually #1 and 2.
I "discovered" rock music during the prime years of Hendrix.  His performance at Monterey is my favorite live performance, period.
