...that our schedule was 3rd toughest in the nation, behind Utah and Purdue.  Anyone actually buy that?

There is an explanation for that.  They are quoting the official NCAA ranking, which is based soley on win % of opponents:

It obviously doesn't factor in, for example, that Mizz, USCe, UF, and UGa are all beating up on each other as well as us, nor does it make any subjective comparison to account for us being in the SEC.

Actually, that makes our schedule toughness THAT MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE

looking at that I was left scratching and shaking my head in disbelief. There is no way Tennessee has the 3rd toughest schedule. Common sense should tell anybody to look at the national rankings at the time they played.
