They're not just considering it, I'm hearing it's about done from my UL buddies here.

They could do worse. He is a good coach

At least his moving expenses should be cheap ...

I wouldn't hire back someone who actually left twice. Remember the Auburn/Turbeville fiasco?

That was more on Auburn.

I think it's a good hire. UL can pretty much dictate their terms - and he can coach, he has proven that.

He's lied to and deceived his superiors at every stop of his career.  I can't believe he can even get a high school job at this point.

What he said.

I wish some ESPN (or FOX, I don't care) talking head would come up with some cleverly name category for coaches like Petrino and Kiffin and others who, regardless of ability or history or merit, seem to get top-tier coaching jobs. For lack of a better suggestion, and with admitted bias, I'll make the first suggestion: "Kiffin Klown."

Dear Louisville: Way to make a stand for morality and integrity in college athletics!

Or not.

And something no one talks about- even though he's never been caught breaking NCAA rules, is there any doubt that he has, and will continue to do so?  The guy has a habitual problem with screwing over his bosses, his assistants, even his wife and family.  But we're to believe that he draws the line at the NCAA?  I'm not buying it.  I'm telling you- he's going to bring a college program to its knees, it's just a matter of time.

That's what we've been saying about Auburn for years.....they've played in two NC games in the last 4 years with 2 QBs that got kicked out of other SEC schools. Auburn and Louisville don't care...it's about winning.

After watching just about everybody in the free world playing in a bowl games the last 2 years while we are sitting at home doing the what-if game....I'm ready to stop worrying about NCAA troubles and win some dang games.

Here's my take on Petrino.

1) The guy's very good at coaching football. It's difficult to name five people better than him.
2) The career moves he makes are upward.*
3) Lots of us have changed jobs when opportunity presented itself.
4) He's probably not a picnic to work with, but his career path looks a lot like Majors' prior to arriving at UT.
5) Arkansas was right to can him, but he wasn't bailing on the Hogs.

*Atlanta to Arkansas is the one exception, and I cut him slack for that. We've all ended up in jobs that weren't good fits at some point.

Left Atlanta without telling anyone.  I'll never forget watching him call the hogs at the Arky presser LIVE on the 11PM Sportscenter.  The Falcons' players arrived at practice the next morning to find form letters posted on their lockers.

It's not that he changed jobs- it's HOW he changed jobs.  Spineless fizzleing weasel.

Mike Zimmer (who has been mentioned as Franklins' replacement if he leaves Vandy)... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/20/mike-zimmer-on-bobby-petrino-hes-a-gutless-bastard/

And it sucks. I don't think anyone would deny that the scandals — not just directly related to what happens on the field, but also what happens in the classroom, the showers, etc. — have grown steadily worse in recent years. Part of it is a better job by investigative sports reporters who dig up these stories and shed light on them. But the pressure to win and win big has had a major negative impact on college sports. As long as we continue with this win-at-all-costs attitude, it isn't going to improve. It's just going to keep getting worse.

I wanna know how Petrino can walk into a recruit's home, look the kid and his parents in the eye and say "trust me".  And how could any recruit and his parents not laugh in his face?

Recruits are stupid. A Vandy recruit recently said he was on board with James Franklin because he would lead Vandy to the national championship. That being said, Petrino's never been a great recruiter...he's a great coach and developer of QBs.
