longer in the headlines? So a plane full of people disappears and we are still baffled. Almost seems eerie that it has been so quiet about it lately. Wonder what the real story they don't want us to know is?

As for others, in today's world that is so yesterday.
The other point is there is really NOTHING to report.  Hell, I was having fun in the hospital a week after the disppearance and cnn was regurgitating the same crap over and over and over and over and over ....

Though cnn can provide laughs - (I was at ATL awaiting a flight and had no choice but to hear cnn) they had a BIG BREAKING STORY which was some "expert" inquiring why the ELT wasn't going off.  HELLO, the freaking plane is most likely UNDERWATER your freeking MORON!

It is in the headlines. They have gone back to the drawing board. Looks like we still have a plane missing, no clues, and no debris. Weird as hell

It's in the ocean, but just incredibly difficult to find.  The French airliner that went down off Brazil a few years ago had much better tracking, and still took months and months to find.

A lady friend mentioned to me that we found the Orbiter after the 1986 Challenger disaster.  Yes.  But we had PRECISE telemetry on that bird, it was much larger, and it still took months and months to find all the pieces.  Not to mention our own spacecraft was a much higher priority for the feds than a foreign airliner and we put much more resources into it.

It has crashed.  I would bet a week's pay it has, anyway.

Some people though...just the other day I overheard two rubes in a bar talking.  One of them said "yes, they say they hear a black box, but the turists could have planted one.".

Oh.  My. Freaking.  God.   

That isn't to say it's not mysterious HOW it crashed.  Could be sabatoge or an electrical fire or other failure.  We may never know for sure, and there is a decent chance ... IMO ... that the wreckage is either not found or not found for a long time.

As Smoky says, I am just amazed those Alien wackos have not come out of the woodwork claiming that.  I am surprised and almost disappointed that those Ancient Alien conspiracy wackos on History Channel have not started a new series on plane vanishings.  You would think someone would be out claiming a Pacific version of the Bermuda triangle. It took months and months to find the debris and they knew ALMOST EXACTLY where it went down.

Whereas in the case of the Malaysian plane there are hundreds or even thousands of square kilometers to search.  They may well never find it.

Some debris should wash up somewhere. Suitcases, cushions, fragments of the plane, bodies. Air France debris didn't take months and months, debris and 2 bodies were found within 5 days.

Depends on where it went down

It took a year for debris to wash up in Cali's coast from Japan.  There is a hell of a lot more water out there than land

Besides, I think the cred deliberately flew it to the middle of a water mass and put it into the water

The Pacific is a BIG body of deep, deep water. Where the plane probably went in has wicked currents and trade winds.

I personally like the alien theory because it cannot be proved or even disproved.  It is just too outlandish to believe and just crazy enough to be credible. Like most politicians.

The Air France jet essentially pancaked into the water, with little forward airspeed. 

If my theory is correct they most likely dived the A/C into the water, probably left fewer debris.

When the sat link info first came out and there was a question if they went North or South on the arcs I looked at available fields on the Northern arc and they aren't many and far, far fewer that aren't at least joint military fields.

They actually spotted the oil slick within a day.  What I mean by "months and months" is to find useful pieces of wreckage, not just the litter on the surface.  It took nearly two years to find the black boxes and they knew within a KM or two, at most, where the French airliner went down.  That makes a big difference.  There are literally thousands of square KM the Malaysian plane could have crashed into.

I tend to agree with Pirate....if it was a terrorist or extremist action, the pilot likely crashed it far away from land on purpose.

I also think it's possible that the pilots were incapacitated and the plane was on auto pilot for a long period of time.

We may never know for sure, even with modern technology.  It might be decades.
