...it's safe to say he and Butch are probably no longer friends.

Please explain?

A couple of the tweets he retweeted:

"That's twice in 12 months Butch jettisoned a coordinator who helped him get this job - a few weeks before NSD."

"not to mention Butch calling a timeout before a couple of 4th down plays vs FL that should've NEVER been called"

"If the Vols didn't think they were capable of winning a Natty with @UTCoachJancek why was he on staff to begin with???"

I think it makes it clear (as if there was any doubt) that this wasn't a "mutual" parting of ways. Janice was canned...which we knew, but still.

If nothing else, this should put some of the fears to rest that Butch is going to stick with "his guys" come hell or high water.  As I said, I'm not sure I agree with the move, at least until we find out who the replacement is.  But at least we know Butch isn't afraid to change things up.

Rumor has it Jancek's wife has been in rehab &  Jancek found a gf in the interim... Don't know if that played a role or not, or if true.

TIFWIW....

NittanyRyans

UT D Coordinator

As many of you know, and to many's displeasure, I posted about Bob Shoop to UT last week. I have talked with a few players and it looks like our worst fear is coming true.

Butch Jones and Shoop share the same agent. This deal that's getting ready to go down has been in the works for close to two months.

Shoop has wanted out since middle of the season when Franklin called him a M-F'er after losing to Temple. Look for Gattis and Haslett to take off with him. It was the hope of Franklin to keep Haslett but he doesn't want to stay either.

I think the implosion of the program is well under way.

As long he's not married to the 3-4.  Not only was that a disaster the last time we tried it, but we don't have enough quality LBs to run it right now.

I saw those but I thought they were comments made by followers and not Jancek?

You probably don't want to retweet stuff like that about your former boss, regardless of the veracity.

Yep, for sure.  If we go to the 3-4 next year, Jones should just save us all the trouble and resign before the season starts

You may be right about the quality LBs but we should not in any way compare shifting to a 3-4 under Shoop to the Sal Sunseri abortion.

That relationship has been strained for a while, now, since way back near the beginning of the season.

Doubt very seriously that they will be on each others Christmas card list from here on out.

One wonders if there was a difference of opinion on personnel ...

I am led to believe that this was the culmination more of off the field issues that have been coming to a head than anything that actually happened on the field.

This is what I fear.

You mean it that Colton was on Jones?  Or did you have other issues in mind...that's the only controversial one I can think of, but it was a doozy
