Congrats......hope you can see them all often. Tough living that far away.
We don't get to see them as much as we would like to, but we have gotten down there several times per year and they have come to us once a year since my son has been posted to Fort Hood. It's about 16 hours of drive time and really not a bad drive, but we can also drive 2 1/2 hours to BNA and fly Southwest direct to AUS and be at their house 30 miles north of downtown Austin within about an hour of deplaning.
It's tough for us having my son, DIL and now 2 grandchildren in Texas, while our daughter, Son In Law, and now 1 and soon to be 2, grandchildren here in Knoxville. And it looks like my son is going to stay in Texas if he decides to get out in May '17, and he will likely stay at Fort Hood if he decides to stay in at this point, so we'll have the problem for some time to come. Hopefully Mrs. HTV and I will be in a position to be able to split time between Texas and here within a couple of years.
And an addendum: Funny how grandchildren change plans. It's been our plan to retire in Brevard County, FL, where we've co-owned a place for a good while, now, but at this point we're looking at splitting time between good ole Pal and the Austin, TX area. It's it strange how things work out? Like they say, the best laid plans ...........
