I have expressed in the past that I am hoping that Smart is like Muschamp.  A great DC, but as an HC has a bad offense.

I doubt Smart (or just about anyone) can approach Muschamp level offensive  incompetence, but I saw something revealing on ESPN the other day. They went "behind the scenes" at a USC jr practice.

What I saw was that Muschamp is very involved in the practice, and that in this practice he was very focused on the DBs.  He was showing a particular DB technique, and over the course of 5-6 plays the guy slowly improved until Muschamp was loudly praising him.

It was interesting...very interesting to watch the body language of the QB as the practice progressed.  He slowly became less and less engaged, because literally 100% of Muschamp's attention and patter was on the DBs.

If that's a typcial Muschamp practice, no wonder his offenses suxes.  On the last play or two, the QB almost looked like he was about to shrug. As if to say "I guess I'm just here to improve our DB's".

That could explain a lot, possibly.
