...he certainly is now.  Texas just lost to Kansas, whose only win coming into today was against FCS Rhode Island in Week 1.

But...but...but...he was so much better than Butch!  Or was that Muschamp.  No wait.  It was Smart.

We really dodged a bullet when Strong turned us down.  He's at one of the best 2-3 schools for recruiting, in a league that is much, much easier than the SEC.  If he can't succeed there...

I dare say that Strong may have "built" on Dooley's failures and sunk our program even lower than it was.

You might get away losing to K State...but not to Kansas.

Wonder if he's open to a DC gig in Knoxville?

Maybe.  Is he a good recruiter?

It would appear he is not
He is in Tejas and the talent level hasn't really improved in his time in the Yellow Rose

I wouldn't mind him as DC.  Doubt we jettison Shoop after one year though.

Yes.  I have used my telepathic powers to read the minds of all the coaches, and you are correct.  Just yesterday, during the fourth quarter, Shoops was thinking of creative ways to kill Butch with nothing but a screwdriver, while Butch was seriously wanting to push Shoops in front of a moving TV truck after the game.  And Butch still hates that shirt that Shoops always wears while Shoops is tired of Butch being so gassy and farting during coaching staff meetings.

Other fans with equally vast powers of telepathy have reported the same thing.

At this point, it will be surprising if Shoop is still the DC next year. Don't need telepathy when real people with real connections are saying real things.

At the very least Shoop needs to be given control of hiring his staff....We have some coaches on defense that needs to git. I'd start with the LB coach and DB coach and I'd almost bet that's where Shoop would start if given the go ahead.

It's going to get interesting here in a few weeks. I've got a feeling at least 2 on the offensive staff are gone too.

A source who has strong ties but who I don't quiz very often says at least four assistants are on the chopping block. It needs to be done but at the same time that's hardly healthy for recruiting.

Better there than at LSU or some other SEC school.  Unlike a lot of these "flavor of the month" small school coaches, he seems to me to be the real deal.

I don't think so. He's stumbled a few times this season. We might...or might not...find out.

The thing is, he can hardly do worse than Strong.

Not fair to judge Shoop based on the injuries we have had on D.

It is fair to judge how unprepared our defense has been in game after game after game.
Our half time adjustments Saturday reduced the percentage of times we weren't lined up at the snap from >50% to between 33 and 50 percent

Nah.  Dooley set a standard of suckitude that few can aspire to.  I do think Butch >>> Strong though, and it's not even close.

Our entire team has come in looking unprepared this year. Not sure why. I suspect a lot of the defense issues is because it's a pretty complex defense in its first year - and the injuries did not help.
