if those were indeed the three finalists, today makes Phil look pretty smart.  I was honestly surprised at how UGA and AU defenses got rung up.

Much like Boise State a few years ago where they loved playing the giant killers in bowl games UCF looked to play the same part......Auburn played like they didn't like playing in the same city and stadium they played in 3 1/2 weeks earlier in the SECCG. Yesterday UCF was better no doubt.

I had a former pick-a-nickname tell me before Christmas that he expected them to lose as they were suffering the aftereffects of the SECC

BTW same source who told me that Steele had initial conversations and/or interviewed for the job, long before it became public
