……....and Vandy actually had a 0.01% chance of winning tonight with Smart being out.

Dang...hard to believe a 27-4 record doesn't win a conference title. They just don't bring their A game consistently or their best defense. They should still go far in both upcoming tournaments.

We looked like the LVs today turning the ball over....dribbling it OOBs off our foot and missing 3 foot shots under the basket.

Imo, once we got up by 11 they just flat outplayed us. Not only did they shoot it really well, but their effort and defensive intensity just dwarfed ours after that point in the game.

Having said that, this loss doesn't really hurt a lot given that we were likely to be paired with UK in the SECT anyway and also that I think that a 2 seed in the right region is likely as good or better than as a 1 seed in the wrong one.

Hopefully this ignites this team for a very deep run in the tournament.

When a SEC title is on the line if you want to be up there with the big dogs you go win that game against a unranked team....Everyone on the planet knew Auburn was going to jack up 3's from the parking lot...and they did. 61% of their shots where from the 3 point line....For some reason we decided to play Auburns game today and run and gun from the 3....We played right into Auburn's and Pearls hands and it bit us in the ass...We are getting zero help from the bench players and today that killed us....Pearls team went 8-9 deep with their bench getting double digit minutes and we didn't....We played 6 most of all the game and you could tell it the last 4-5 minutes. In the last 5 games Turner is 3 of 26 from the three.....The last 7 games he's 7 of 42 from the 3.

Barnes comment in post game:

"We shot too many threes. Lamonte Turner was pressing."

What really sucks or is really amazing depending on your view is it is possible for the ACC to have three of the top four seeds in the Dance,  UVa, Duke and UNC. I hope they all loose their first game in the ACC tourney. If it is a close choice they unfortunately will get the benefit of the doubt when seeding is done.

Disappointing to come so close to an SEC title and flame out, but we have a good chance of winning the SECT.  And I see a deep run in the tourney as well.
