Thoughts on Shrout and Mauer?
Hard to tell. Didn't really see either of them running with full first team with the offense full fledged open. Athletically Maurer is superior. He moves in the pocket well and pulls it down and runs it with success. Shrout is more of a pocket passer/gunslinger. But like I said, we really didn't see either of them in full package mode today. |

Unfortunately that’s the new reality in the era of the transfer portal. You have to continue recruiting your players for all four years. Especially someone like him, who was apparently looking around shortly before the season even began. If things continue to go south and we have another coaching change in the offing, he may not stick around. |

He was homesick back in the Summer which is understandable being 2,500 miles from home.....I'm sure starting has cured that.
