Shoot lots of high post shots!

Gotta have people who can make that 15 footer!!!!!!

Defense was pretty good.  Had trouble scoring against the zone, mainly because nobody could consistently hit the wide open high post jumper, imo.

It was a good win. D was really good. Youngsters played very well for the most part.

What kind of team do you think we will be? Defensive or offensive oriented. Forced 23 turnovers in this game. Will this be a fast break, running team, or will we slow it down? I hope we will be a running, high scoring team. It is hard to watch a slow moving, methodical team that is lucky to score 60. That's why I cringed every time I watched UVa play. But what do I know? it worked for them. Who in the SEC will be our toughest competition this season? UK and Auburn seem to be young and beatable. I want to beat Pearl. Judging by this first game, it looks like we should be be a little of both. Good defense and the offense will improve to make us a formidable team. Every team needs a least a couple of three point shooters. I didn't see them in this game. What do you expect from them as far as winning. Is an SEC championship to much to ask?

After last night we will need to get better against a zone because when Colorado went to it we had issues so we will see more zone going forward...Not worried by defense because if you play for Barnes you have to play defense. Got to score better and not got through periods of not scoring like we seem to do in past seasons.

It would have been helpful to hit more than one of those 8-10 foot shots in the middle of the zone.
Pons missed every single one of his shots from there, most off the front of the rim.
I think Fulky made 1 and the grad transfer none
Make those shots and they would be forced to draw in the zone, opening up the wings.

Yeah we need to work on ball movement against the zone but we must hit the open shots in the middle of the zone

I like attacking the zone from the baseline out. Make the D defend the low block, then the high block/free throw line area, then the perimeter. Break it apart from the inside out. To do that, however, you must make those mid range jumpers in the lane. Hopefully the rust will come off and that will improve with more playing opportunities.

Of course, the game has changed. It’s an outside/in game today.

Barnes will demand D.  No doubt about that, but this group showed some tenacity - you have to “want” to play defense. Playing D is hard. I like the way this group played on that end last night.
