I love seeing him get a chance. His legs add a new dimension. They have a chance to make the playoffs at 7-9. They are mostly healed up. Who knows. Stranger things have happened.

Dobbs has hung around for what, 6-7 years? From the internet: "Practice squad players make $11,500 per week or $207,000 for 18 weeks. Veteran players with over two years of experience will make a minimum of $15,400 per week or $277,200 for 18 weeks, and a maximum of $19,900 per week or $358,200." Not the big bucks, but not shabby money by any means! One of my favorite Vols.

That salary is at the top of his chosen profession of Aerospace Engineering. Its what a top Subject Matter Expert would make with 20-30 years of experience.  So he is doing well for sure.

Of course, he wants to be a CEO of a small company that he founds, and his family has the means to help him get started, from what I have heard, so maybe the salary is irrelevant in his case.  Still, the equivalent of taking crumbs in the NFL is a top salary in his chosen field that requires years of experience.

To say he is not doing bad is an understatement IMO.

Which brings me to one of my favorite rants....sports gets way too much emphasis in our country.

I've always contended it is emphasized as you say as a diversionary tactic to keep us marching forward in our otherwise mundane lives.

Yes.  Bread and circuses.
