Now I read that he is in the portal. Was that always the case? And why would he leave UT?

Lots of guys do this. The portal functions as a “plan B” if their professional plans don’t work out- especially for guys like ONK, whose pro prospects are murky anyway. Whatever happens, he won’t be back at UT. We’re full.

He had his moments, but I don't believe he ever became what Barnes expected. I still think UT has to stretch a bit to "round out" the men's basketball roster. That's ok considering our "tradition". This one didn't quite work out to maximum potential.
