We were outs scored 66-9 in the 2nd half. The 9 was against Florida. The other 3 we were shut out. Something doesn?t look right with this staff.

I really wonder about the OC. We all know JH is heavily involved in the play calls anyway, but something could be off with that dynamic? Idk, just a guess. Certainly, having a QB who can't run your offense is a huge problem.

I think it is more who is in the booth plus a trust issue Alex Golesh had developed a level of trutst by Heup His observations and game planning were top knotch He was allowed to call plays Halzle was in the booth with Golesh but has less experience there Joining him in the booth this year is Abeln, who started coaching as a Grad Assistant in 18 so he ius still very young in the coaching fraternity and with Heup's system I think our loss of Golesh's experience and Heup's trust in him is the biggest factor this year, on the coaching side. The bigger issue IMO is Joe's limitations

As an aside, this whole redshirting Nico deal is curious to me. IS it an issue with Nico, or if reports I've heard are accurate that Nico wants the redshirt - is that to maximize his performance as the starter If that were the case, why is Heup willing to sacrifice this year? Did he think he could get Joe to a higher level? Joe HAS improved this year But he is nowhere near the level that Hooker was in 2021 Even with an arguarably better OL (before the injuries) and better RB room to support Joe The entire situation is curious to me For this week I expect Joe to start (Senior Day and all that) but my expectations are for Nico to go at least three quarters

I think this is factor #1. I don't think the staff trusts Joe. Against SEC opponents we average 223 yards passing per game, 167 yards rushing, 390 total. Against OOC opponents it is 256 passing, 273 rushing, 529 total.

CJH is paid $9M/year to win football games. If Nico isn't better than Joe, that's potentially scary going into next season. If the staff thinks he is better but they aren't using him, why not?

If our NIL is to be believed and I have my doubts....Nico got millions to sit on the bench behind...not Peyton...not Casey Clausen....not Astro Dobbs etc etc......Milton!!

BTW, one normally redshirts the 3rd or 4th team QB, not the #2 guy

I think it would be interesting to know how much Nico has been paid so far this season to throw 14 passes. 🤔 If the $8M over 4 years info was accurate, that's about $143K per pass attempt or almost $300K per completion. That is a good gig, if you can get it.

Yep, this team ain?t tough enough. No Real backbone. Also, our DE?s don?t know what the word ?contain? means. Almost all of that is on the staff.

Never seen your backup QB being redshirted at the start of the season...can't announce that. You hope you can quietly do it behind the scenes and your starter stays upright....And here we are. This was the plan all along.

Why this isn't a big surprise. I'm sure all you Vol football experts had to see how the Vols struggled on both sides of the ball against Austin Peay that it would be tough sledding against a lot of our SEC opponents. We didn't look comfortable on offense or defense against AP. I definitely saw it. As for benching QB's, a lot of coaches have no problem with it. Saban did it this year. Hell, he pulled his QB at halftime of a NC game. Of course it was Tua and Hurts. Big diff from what QB's are on our roster. Heuple puzzles us.

This season is the worst season for conference points per game in Heupel's 13 years as a OC or head coach. This includes his time at OU....Utah State....Mizzou....UCF... previous 2 seasons at UT.

Agree, and also agree that Golesh is a bit part of this. I was worried about losing him. Unfortunately it does seem to have hurt. Agree that Milton has limited us, but I saw some strange play calls. Like constantly passing on 3rd and short with Milton when we have a good run game.
