It was really conservative offensively but it was expected with a freshman quarterback.

Nico, for his first real game, showed good poise, threw accurate passes, made good decisions for the most part, and added the run element to the QB spot. The only negative may be that he needs to throw it away every now and then - but that likely goes back to his confidence (which is a positive) and his competitiveness.

Only bad thing I saw is he took too many sacks. He will fix this with experience.

Agree....the only tad negative is he needs to learn the PVP.....When nothing is there throw it to the popcorn vender in the 5th row play. He will learn it.

Give Iowas D some credit for that...they have some legit NFL prospects on that line

at least 3 of the sacks were direct result of piss poor OT technique

From my vantage point, whichever Iowa receiver went to Rickey Gibson's side of the field was unwillingly placed in a strait jacket.

OL pass blocking was horrible...It's why we didn't see Nico going downfield much....There was times he didn't have time get rid of it...There was also times he could have used the PVP. He will learn it...Also...running QBs have a mindset they can get themselves out of bad situations with their legs. That's were he will learn when to hold them or when to fold them.

Gibson played well.  GJ-L played well as well
Safeties and LBs, as expected, had issues with the crossing/Dig routes across the middle

As I noted during the game, when the motioned the WR out of GJ-Ls side (field corner) he rotated into a single high safety and the 2 safeties came up in run support or help with the TE crossing routes
Actually effective

Overall, when in man, our coverage yesterday was much tighter than all year.  Perhaps because they didn't scare us with any deep threat (When 300+ pound DTs (quickly) chase down their QB I don't think we were concerned with their speed)

Maybe so, but a good. DL can make an OL look bad for sure. Iowa best DL is probably a 1st rounder
