We're apparently the clubhouse leaders for the SEC's Las Vegas Bowl birth. And while this would be a huge disappointment, I would consider going, because, hey, Vegas. Then I checked the ticket prices just now. A "get in the door" nosebleed endzone seat is $400, and it just goes up from there. For a meaningless game where most of the team would probably opt out.

No thank you.

The non playoff bowl games are nothing more than the NIT is to basketball. Just a consultation prize.

I'd be fine with another 11-2 season and a top 10 finish as a consolation prize.

If we don't make the playoffs, we will be one of the first out, if not no. 13.  That will make twice in 4 years.  That's a lot better than the previous 15 years before Heupel.  The expectation is that we would continue in that vein and eventually make the playoffs.  If we indefinitely keep just missing the playoffs that won't be good enough.  In that case, Heupel is the Vol Mark Richt.

Having said that, per the All State playoff App we are 66% to make the playoffs.  Not sure how good a predictor it is, but I'll take it for now.

IIRC, UT was projected to be 8-4 this year. Maybe 9-3, but regardless, we've exceeded expectations, so there's no shame not making the playoffs If we don't get in

The thought of going 10-2 with a meh offense pretty much the whole season was not in many people's predictions.

If you had told me, 4 years ago, that the Vols would possibly finish the season at 10-2 and be just outside the 12-team playoff - I would have been really excited for the program. This team isn't quite there yet, but they are gaining on them.

It is still, I think, a jimmies and joes issue at some key positions.

I am gonna try to trust the process until I don't.

My expectation was 9-3 with 10-2 a pleasant surprise.  So I am (likely) going to be pleasantly surprised.

The biggest and most pleasant surprise is the defense (other than Saturday).  Hopefully they finish strong.

While it sucks to be slow close to have an excellent season, I'll be more than thrilled with a 10-2 regular season & and even more so going 11-2.
