OSU should fall behind Tennessee. That was a massive loss AT HOME. They likely won't, but they should.

If tx loses tonight (and I think they will), they should fall behind us too. They will have beaten absolutely nobody with a pulse. What sucks is that some overrated team like PSU or ND is going to get the coveted 5 seed.

I would like to think that Texas losing would put us in front of them, but I just can't make myself buy that. Politics in this process is impossible to predict. At this point, I'm pulling for Texas to win tonight and in the SECCG because in that scenario, A&M can't jump us and UGA could possibly fall a spot or two. 🤞🏻 At least in that scenario, no team that is behind us actually pushes us further down the list. As much as I would hate for Texas to win the SECC, to me that seems to be the safest scenario for the Vols.

I see no way Texas will lose...Might be wrong but the are better in the lines and has a QB that's been in big games.

There's no way Indiana should have stayed in the conversation when OSU whipped their ass. There's so many teams with horrible SOSs that are being given weight that they haven't earned. We should end up in the top 5 after tonight and hosing a playoff game but probably won't.

I bought into the hype that said A&M is at home and playing in a big rivalry game for the first time in 10 years. I was wrong for sure! My take...if there was a slight chance we are not in the playoffs, it probably would be if Tamu won out and (somehow, however improbably) won the SECCG, we might get left out. BVS...I don't want even a slight chance of that, so I for one am glad. Guess we will see how we are seeded.

OSU was ranked 2nd in the committee poll last week. Tennessee was 8th. Miami was 6th so Tennessee automatically moves up to 7th. OSU would have to fall 5 spots in this week's poll to put Tennessee in 6th if the Vols are to host a playoff game.
The ACC champ and Boise State will both jump into the top 4, so you have to be 6th or better to host a first round game.
I think that I have this right.

Well, the top 4 seeds don't play, and there are four games, so you have to be 5-8 to host a first round game. I think our odds are good.

The ACC champ and Boise will both be outside the top 8 and will jump into the 3rd and 4th spots for automatic byes.

Two of the top six "seeds" will still have a bye, so that leaves four slots for first round playoff games. I was going by the playoff seedings after the playoffs are set, but .... for now, there are "rankings" and "playoff seedings" which are not the same thing. It can be confusing.

They must be top 6 to get a host game. 1 Oregon/PSU champ or Texas/UGA champ 2 Oregon/PSU champ or Texas/UGA champ 3 ACC/Big 12/G5 champ 4 ACC/Big 12/G5 champ 5 Notre Dame 6 Oregon/PSU or Texas/UGA loser 7 Oregon/PSU or Texas/UGA loser 8 Tennessee or OSU Whichever team is 6th in the poll this week will likely finish 8th in the bracket for the CFP. That's my guess as to how it plays out.

Only one team that was ranked in the CFP top 10 has fallen 4 spots after a loss. It was Tennessee after losing to UGA. Every other team has fallen 5 spots or more. 🤔
I read that earlier today. I have not fact checked that info.

Interesting, butbwe can assume losing to uga might not be considered a bad loss

Interesting, butbwe can assume losing to uga might not be considered a bad loss Agreed. That was why the Vols only fell 4 spots. My point was more that OSU lost to an unranked Michigan team in Columbus when they were a 20+ point favorite. I did a very poor job of conveying that in my post, though.
