They're so close. Rebounding (or lack thereof) doomed them tonight.

Yea, they played a good game.

One weakness of Caldwell's system is that it doesn't allow for a post player. Or, at least, a post player that can get up and down the court. And, they would need two.

Texas ate up the Lady Vols inside because of that big girl that they had.

And still, the Lady Vols could have won that game.

Little things matter. A box out here and there was the difference once again.

We also need to get a lot more athletic, which is coming in the recruiting class

Some of the players we have are just not SEC level players, especially for this system
I have seen Kim backoff some things as a result (One example: look at the substitution patterns now vs the start of the SEC season, especially in the 2nd half)

IMO we are ahead of where I thought we would be
We are paying the price for the shortcomings of the previous staff but Kim and crew did a good job to improve the previous team, significantly
Texas should have won by >10, such is the difference in talent levels but we hung in till the end.

I completely agree with everything you said. As many shortcomings as there are, though, it has been basic fundamental errors that have kept this team from being undefeated.

Caldwell has done an amazing job with this group. I feel good about the future of Lady Vols basketball.

I agree, but some of the causal factors for those fundamental errors, especially late in the game are those I mentioned

One more thing I'll add is that she and her staff (if you haven't had the good fortune to watch in person you don't know how hard the staff works in game) are able to make adjustments on the fly and especially at the half.  Gabe Lazo is worth every penny we are paying him, he is constantly in the ear of the players with instruction, correction and encouragement in game.  An example was the Miss St game.  Everytime that Spearman came off the court he met her with intructions and encouragment her, some of her rest in that game was as short as 1 min of game time and she was fatigued.
The other staff are similar.

Seems they have done well with the talent they have. The really good teams just have more talent all over the court. Hopefully the future classes will close the talent gap. They haven't been blown out by anyone.
