...Mark Nagi's book "Decade of Dysfunction", which roughly covers the period from Fulmer's last season as HC to the hiring of Pruitt. I didn't really learn much of anything new, but it was interesting to relive some of those events. You ever go back and read the VTTW archives around some of those days? It's interesting to do a self-assessment to see when you (and others) were right, and when you were very, very wrong.

Also, clearly Mark needs to come out with the sequel, because a LOT has happened since Pruitt was hired. Mostly good things, which should balance out the bleak tone of the first book nicely.

I was wrong about Pruitt. I thought he would be slightly better than Jones. Unbelievably, he was worse. I will offer one caveat that the team fell apart during the COVID season.  There was a very slight optimism at the end of the 2019 season as we had a long win streak going after the Georgia State debacle, and even won a bowl game to finish 8-5.  Had there not been COVID, and had to play 10 SEC games, IMO we would have stumbled to another 7-5 or 8-4 record and a second tier bowl game again, and again, had some mild optimism that he would continue to improve perhaps.

In retrospect I guess COVID did us a favor football wise.

So was Pruitt worse or better than Jones?  The first two seasons, the records are identical, and then the 10 game SEC COVID season messes up the comparison.  I will just say that even taking COVID out of it, Pruitt was, at best, the same as Jones.  No improvement.

Both were (hard to believe!) way better than Dooley though.  Pruitt's most impressive win was Auburn in Season 1.  Jones, probably the sole win over Florida.  Dooley...Cincinatti!  And the sombitch was 4-19 in SEC play.  Unbelievably bad.
