Why yes, it really might have an effect.

https://atozsports.com/nashville/volunteers/georgia-bulldogs-ohio-state-buckeyes-reportedly-nil-offer-tennessee-vols-battle-5-star-recruit/?fbclid=IwY2xjawMDmopleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFWSzdSZVVXY0ZucHRKcnptAR73JBRUUP9naaVSgSpIW0bmQo4rgrDgyV_dQklbFrbi0w0SKSa8-dHo82p11g_aem_ULOoy0rEuQaxKGXtTIaVGg

Michigan (or anybody else) might up the ante. But UT seems to be raising the stakes.

It appears that the real money is between Michigan and UT.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. A player picking a school solely because of the NIL (or other) money being offered leaves me cold.

I am aware that it is the world in which we live when it comes to college sports.  But if a recruit is picking a school based on the amount of money being offered, does he give a rat's ass about the school to which he just committed?

And yet, if he commits to UT and if we are successful because of his "commitment", we will all rejoice and celebrate. And the player will get riches, and we will get......what?

Bragging rights, MF, that's what.

Nico chose Tennessee because of money, we see how that turned out.

OTOH, OSU had the most expensive roster in the short history of NIL last year, and it worked out pretty well for them.

Considering how tight to the vest he is keeping his recruitment as in ZERO comms toanyone outside the teams in question
And this source in particular, I doubt the veracity of this article

I do feel, per sources I trust, that we are in the hunt but nobody really knows squat about this recruitment

The Buckeyes and Dawgs probably have already got 5* players all over their backfields so they aren't as needy for this guy. They would only recruit him hard to keep others from getting him. They probably have spent most of their NIL allowances already or he is not a big need for them. Both those teams always are loaded at RB. Vols do pretty well at the RB position too though.

If he compares Michigan's offense to ours, he will fall all over himself to be in Knoxville. Just sayin'
