Apparently, according to this, they had doubts about UCLA, but at that point it might have been all he could get.

I think the family just assumed TN would pay.  That we had invested so much in him and we had such a sparse qb room behind him that we'd cave.  Obviously UCLA wasn't what they really wanted but we called their bluff and they didn't have the hand they wanted us to think they had.

I think that Klatt is full of it. Nico was rarely able to read past one option imo, much less read both sides of the field for multiple options. Until proven differently, I will believe that the offense had to be simplified and slowed down in order for him to be able to function in it at all.

I agree...and you are not the only one saying this, by far. People that break down film for a living are saynig this also.
