You know how Syracuse football awards #44 to one special player every year, to honor the legacy of Brown, Davis, and Little? I believe our basketball team should do the same with #5, once ZZ is gone (fingers crossed, we could get him for another year). Loftin is already hanging in the rafters, Admiral is borderline at that level, and ZZ is a cinch to be there in a few years. Since it's too late to retire #5, why not do the opposite? Keep it active every year for one special guy.

I thought they just retired the jersey and not the number, which is a pretty dumb distinction that UT sometimes makes.
Anyway, what happens when it's time to recognize the greatest PG in UT history? Are they just going to retire #5 twice?
