You know how Syracuse football awards #44 to one special player every year, to honor the legacy of Brown, Davis, and Little? I believe our basketball team should do the same with #5, once ZZ is gone (fingers crossed, we could get him for another year). Loftin is already hanging in the rafters, Admiral is borderline at that level, and ZZ is a cinch to be there in a few years. Since it's too late to retire #5, why not do the opposite? Keep it active every year for one special guy.

#5 is retired
ZZ was allowed to continue to wear it

All men dream: but not equally.
Those who Dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds
Wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the
Dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
May act their dream with open eyes, to make it Possible.
This I did.

I thought they just retired the jersey and not the number, which is a pretty dumb distinction that UT sometimes makes.

Anyway, what happens when it's time to recognize the greatest PG in UT history? Are they just going to retire #5 twice?
